CO2 Laser, Morpheus8 or XERF: Which Treatment Matches Your Skin Goals
Three treatments promise firmer, smoother skin, and the real difference between them is how much time you can give your recovery.

You're sitting in the waiting room with a brochure open on your lap. One page promises resurfacing, another says microneedling with radiofrequency, and a third describes tightening with no needles at all. They all sound like they'd help with fine lines and slack skin, so how do you pick? The honest answer is that they work in different ways, ask different things of your schedule, and suit different goals. Here's how they compare at Growing Younger Clinic.
CO2 laser: resurfacing with downtime
Fractional CO2 laser is the most intensive of the three. It treats the skin's surface in a pattern of tiny zones, and the clinic offers it for the face, neck, chest and hands. People tend to consider it for sun damage, fine lines, uneven texture and scarring, though your provider will tell you what it can realistically do for you.
The trade-off is recovery. The clinic's FAQ puts it at 7 to 14 days, which is real time to plan around. Redness and flaking are common with resurfacing lasers in general, so ask what to expect and hold off on scheduling it right before a big event or photo. The published price for a full-face CO2 treatment is $2,000, and the clinic also lists a Madonna Eye Lift at $800 for the eye area.
Morpheus8: microneedling plus radiofrequency
Morpheus8 combines tiny needles with radiofrequency energy delivered beneath the skin's surface. The clinic lists it for fine lines, texture, acne scars and mild laxity. It sits in the middle on intensity: more involved than a facial, and generally less demanding than CO2 resurfacing, though you should ask your provider what your own recovery would look like.
Morpheus8 is $499 at Growing Younger Clinic. If you're curious about a gentler starting point, the clinic also lists RF microneedling at $249, and Clear + Brilliant and microneedling at $190. Your provider can explain how they differ from Morpheus8 and whether a lighter option makes sense first.
XERF: tightening without needles
XERF is the one for people who want skin tightening without needles, numbing or downtime. It uses multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency, at 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz, aimed at structural tightening. Because there's no recovery to plan around, it's the easiest of the three to fit around a workday.
Where age shows up first
Which areas bother you changes the answer too. Crepey skin on the chest and hands is a common reason people look at resurfacing, which is why the clinic treats those areas along with the face and neck. Lines around the mouth and a softening jawline may point you toward radiofrequency. These are general patterns, and a provider has to look at your skin to say what applies to you.
A side-by-side way to think about it
- CO2 laser: the most intensive of the three, with a 7 to 14 day recovery, for patients who can set time aside
- Morpheus8: microneedling with radiofrequency, listed for lines, texture, acne scars and mild laxity
- XERF: needle-free radiofrequency tightening, with no downtime
- Not sure yet: a free consultation and digital skin analysis can help narrow it down
Notice that the list is organized by what you're willing to do, not just what you want to fix. A treatment you can't recover from this month isn't the right treatment this month, however good it looks on paper.
Questions that settle the choice
Bring your calendar to the consultation. Tell your provider about upcoming weddings, trips and work events, and about anything that affects healing, including medications, past scarring and sun exposure. Then ask a few direct questions.
- What results is each of these realistically good for on my skin?
- How many sessions would you suggest, and how far apart?
- What does recovery look like day by day for the option you recommend?
- Would you combine any of these, or start with one?
- What's my total cost at the posted pricing?
Whatever you choose, plan for sun protection afterward. Resurfacing and energy treatments generally call for it, and your provider will give you specifics for your skin.
Where to try it
Growing Younger Clinic is at 8103 Hwy 72 W in Madison, and the number is (256) 325-6398. The clinic says a dedicated M.D. is on site and that it uses FDA-cleared technology, including fractional CO2 lasers. New patients get a free consultation with digital skin analysis, so you don't have to guess in advance which treatment belongs on your face.
Read more on the CO2 laser page, the Morpheus8 page and the XERF page, then decide what you want to ask. A patient who drives almost an hour for her facials and RF microneedling says in a review that she's always satisfied, and that the doctor and his staff thoroughly answer her questions about new services. Ask yours.
